Emergency First Aid at Work

This is a One Day Course that teaches the First Aider how to act safely and effectively in a range of workplace emergencies

This course follows a standard syllabus, but it will be tailored to meet any specific needs for your area of work. All topics will directly relate to the injuries likely to be sustained in your industry.

Examples include chainsaw wounds, amputations, crush injuries, falls from heights, suspension trauma, eye injuries amongst many others.

Sample Syllabus

  • Demonstrate the correct approach to the scene of an accident
  • Techniques to gain a response from the casualty
  • Dealing effectively with a casualty's airway
  • Assess if the casualty is breathing and the heart is functioning
  • Effective way of carrying out CPR
  • The importance of dealing correctly with an unconscious casualty
  • Recognising and treating hypothermia
  • Head to toe examination methods

Effective Treatment Of The Following Injuries:

  • Open and closed fractures
  • Severe bleeding from wounds
  • Foreign bodies in wounds
  • Traumatic amputations
  • Burns and scalds
  • Open chest wounds
  • Nose bleeds
  • Eye injuries
  • Crush injuries
  • Suspension trauma

Recognise And Treat The Following:

  • Clinical shock
  • Anaphylactic shock
  • Angina
  • Asthma
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Epileptic fit

And to back up all the theory we run scenarios throughout the day for you to practice what you've learned. A great way to get hands on and do it for real.

First Aid

This is a Three Day Course that teaches the First Aider all the skills required to deal confidently with a range of workplace emergencies.

This course follows a standard syllabus, but it will be tailored to meet any specific needs for your area of work. All topics will directly relate to the injuries likely to be sustained in your industry.

Examples include chainsaw wounds, amputations, crush injuries, falls from heights, suspension trauma, eye injuries amongst many others.

In addition to those subjects covered on the EFAW the course will include sessions on record keeping and the first aid kit.

There is an assessment at the end of the course.

Throughout the course there will be plenty of opportunities to take part in practice scenarios in order to build confidence and skills.

Yearly Refresher Course:

  • Not mandatory but strongly recommended
  • For current holders of the FAW or EFAW this course allows you to practice and update your skills
